Ridgecrest Adventurography Excursion: Cerro Coso Community College

I took these pictures back in July and posted them on Facebook then, but apparently didn't share them on the ole' bloggy blog. My apologies. Ridgecrest's local community college, Cerro Coso, probably has the best view in the entire valley. Enjoy a few pics from their south west lawn. I especially like the funky rock garden.

Pictures from my first-ever "Ridgecrest Adventurography Excursion"

Since moving to Ridgecrest, I've been scoping out spots to either do photoshoots or areas of town that I am unfamiliar with that I would like to explore. Granted, there aren't too many nooks and crannies to explore in this smaller desert town, but that just means I'll get to know the town better than any other place I've lived, right? :)

So, to help me keep my sanity, keep up my photo skills, to get out of the house, and to have fun, I decided to document these little outings. I have aptly named them the "Ridgecrest Adventurography Excursion" series. Basically, anytime I go out and just have photo time around the city, they'll be documented for, uh... posterity's sake and for your's, I guess.

Outing #1 was at Rademacher Hills, on the Sunland Trail. I haven't spent much time doing sunset pictures, so I thought I'd give my hand a try at those. I left the house a bit later than I should have, I didn't really have a destination in mind -- I just decided to drive out towards the local college and see where I ended up.

Here are the spoils from that trip:

I started at the trailhead with the goal to get to the front/west side of the first of two hills. I made it to the south side of hill two and didn't quite get the pics I was imagining, but then again, you can't achieve perfection all of the time. :)

I have always had a thing for fence posts:

Cottontop Cactus... Echinocactus polycephalus

Native Americans ate the seeds and used the plants to treat burns, and the spines were used as needles.

Neat stuff!

I grew up in the desert (Southern Nevada), and have seen similar plants to these, but have never seen a Cottontop Cactus until I moved to Ridgecrest. I thought these were really cool. Not to mention a titch fierce looking once you get a good peak at those fearsome spikes.

Has it really been since January that I last posted?! Sheesh... let me tell you, I've missed photographing and it has been way too long. But, since last we met, the following have occurred in my life:

. My college crush/boyfriend proposed to me the night of/morning of New Years (yay!)

. I madly worked on wedding plans at the same time as I finished my graduate school field project through March.

. Got married on Friday, May 6th: a beautiful Spring morning, danced in the cherry blossoms and celebrated with family friends all day long.

. Danced the night away at a beautiful reception (I had so much fun planning this party... and yes, it was a PARTY! Yay!)

. Moved from my downtown Salt Lake City apartment to Ridgecrest, CA, pop. 30,000, 2 days after the wedding

.And we are... 6 months after my last posting and 2 months after a wonderful wedding and 2 months into a wonderful marriage with my best friend

I have been earnestly searching for full-time (or even part-time) employment, but in a city full of engineers and scientists, there aren't many positions for creative types such as myself. :) I am finally getting around to relocating my photography business here to Ridgecrest. It has taken a while, and has started much too late, but... at least I'm finally doing it, right?

I'm excited to get to know the city more, to get to know the wonderful people here and continue making this our home. I look forward to getting to know you!

Temple Square Christmas 2010

I love Christmas. I love Salt Lake City at Christmas.

Especially Temple Square on an evening when it's just dumped buckets of snow.

Pure bliss.

Throughout this entire Christmas season I have been wishing for a good dumping of snow to occur on an evening where I would be available to actually go to Temple Square and take evening photos. I finally got my wish the night before I left Salt Lake for New Years. It was a lovely precursor to an even greater weekend.

liz & vincent:: las vegas, nevada

Last month I was able to spend some time with Liz & Vincent Hess and their families in Las Vegas/Henderson, NV. They were married at the Las Vegas Nevada LDS Temple on a perfectly beautifully sunny Spring morning. I have known Liz's family for quite some time and it was so fun to see Liz & Vincent so happy and cute together!!

The new couple celebrated with close family and friends with an afternoon luncheon reception. Liz is the youngest girl in her family, with four older sisters--all of whom helped with the beautiful and unique springy decorations. I looooved the felt, flowers and fabulous colors!! Check them out below... :)

They're finally done!! It's only taken nearly a month to get through these, but it was worth the wait. I think you'll like these as much as I do, if I do say so myself. :) Because Giulia & David's reception was the night before their wedding, we took pictures before the reception while family and friends were finishing setting up for the reception. The Las Vegas LDS Temple is one of my favorites; I may be biased since it's my hometown. :) Then, we ventured out to Lake Las Vegas for some beautiful on-the-water shots. It was fun spending even more time with my lil' sis. I think she and David are pretty cute. See for yourself...

...Giulia didn't want David to see her in her dress until we got to the temple, and this was his reaction when he saw her walking down the sidewalk. Classic, right?! :)

A few weeks ago some of our Blue Sky Music students came down from Rexburg, Idaho, to record some amazing folk and bluegrass tunes at counterpoint studios in Salt Lake City. I showed up the first night they were in the studio--they had been there for nearly 9 hours already. They were tired, mentally exhausted and their fingers hurt... but they were still pluckin' along.

clayton & laura were married in the seattle lds temple a few weeks ago and came back home to utah for a fun garden party in south jordan. the fall maroon and brown colors ushered in the fall season with a fresh kiss of the waining summer's white daisies. it was beautiful and very fun!!

This was the first time in more than 2 years the entire family had been together, and lucky me... I galavanted them across the mountains near Heber City to get some awesome shots. It was fun being one of the family members for the afternoon-listening to Michael Jackson (did you hear he died?!), watching The Eagles in Chris' Dodge Cummins and swinging on the world's largest swing set. The following information is for non-traditional photoshoot events, such as Weddings, Special Events, Receptions, Family Gatherings, city events, etc. Event Hourly Pricing: $200 for first hour of photographing$115 for each hour of photographing after Included in the price of each event session:

Printing Information

- You have printing freedom to send or take your digitalnegatives to your favorite printer!

- You choose where and how much you spend on printing.

- Printing is also available from my online photo galleries(I receive no profit from this option).

Payment Terms

- 50% deposit to book your desired date (based onavailability).

- The deposit will be deducted from your total package price.

- 100% travel-related expenses (air & hotel) required tobook out-of-town events (more than 30 miles).

- Remaining balance is due the day of your session/event.

Reminders

- 75% of all deposits are non-refundable.

- Session date may be changed based on availability; 2 weeknotice required.

- Remaining balance of photography is due the day of yoursession/event.

- Client is responsible for all Travel, Accommodations &Transportation Costs.
